Andrew currently serves as a GreenMax Senior Consultant, and consults with the Central Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (CMMPA) on CMMPA’s Midwest Independent System Operator (MISO) Transmission Owner Application and Joint Pricing Zone Cost Sharing Agreement with Xcel Energy and serves as CMMPA’s management representative on the Minnesota Transmission Owners (MTO) group responsible for electric utility state wide transmission planning.

 

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
As Minnesota Powers Transmission Marketing Manager, Andrew was responsible for MP’s Transmission Marketing Strategy with participation on committees at both the Midwest Independent System Operator (MISO) and the Mid-Continent Area Power Pool (MAPP). He was responsible for various types of requests to MISO including Generator Interconnection Requests, as well as long-term transmission requests to be used in conjunction with purchases and sales of Capacity and/or Energy to various entities and power plant construction, sales and purchases made to and from companies primarily within MISO, MAPP, and the Ontario Electric System Operator (OESO).

 

Among his accomplishments in his 30 years at MP were the acquisition of a transmission position that greatly increased MP’s ability to import and export capacity and energy from its control area through the use of the OASIS reservation system. He also completed a Large Generator Interconnection Agreement (LGIA) with MISO for various types of generation that greatly enhanced MP’s flexibility in defining its next capacity and energy resources. He also served as MP’s Project Manager for MISO’s Midwest Market Initiative which prepared MP for the Locational Marginal Pricing (LMP) Market in MISO (MISO Day 2).
